We will be learning ALGEBRA 1 and GEOMETRY, and meeting in Room 225 on a daily basis.
I emphasize the Georgia Standards of Excellence's SMP's (Standards for Mathematical Practice) as a foundation for the content standards; my goal is to guide (and sometimes push) my students grow as thinkers, increasing their ability to analyze, problem solve, and apply math to their lives outside of the classroom. As I often say, the "why" is more important than the "how". We will do a lot of nontraditional learning inside and outside of class; however, I will frequently pose questions that do not have a single, correct answer, or the correct answer is unknown (maybe even on tests).

Simple Steps to succeed in school
I'm sure that you want to succeed in my class (and hopefully all of your classes), so I decided to make a very brief list of hints that I've learned in my 10 years as a teachers, and almost 20 years of being a student:
- It's hard to learn if you're not present
- Actively participate (taking notes, asking and answering questions)
- Focus on learning, and not just the grade
- Practice makes permanent
- Learn from your mistakes
- Be assertive and proactive about your classes (they are YOUR classes)
